How does GPS work?

GPS stands for Global Positioning System. Each GPS unit comes with an antenna that gathers latitude, longitude, altitude and speed from 27 government owned satellites. These variables are process in the GPS unit and sent out to reach the end user through the internet. Depending on what type of real-time system is being used, this data is transmitted either through cellular towers or via low orbit satellites.

How will I save on fuel costs?

Fuel cost savings can come from several different areas. The routing software involved with any GPS device enables you to explore different, more efficient routes with your vehicles.

One of the biggest savings in fuel costs will come from decreased idle times. By being able to evaluate idle times, you will be able to identify the costs associated with excessive idle within your fleet.

By using the “closest mobile” application, you will be able to pull the closest driver to a certain location quicker, without taking the drivers that are across town to an unnecessary location.

How will I save on insurance rates?

By implementing a real-time GPS device in your fleet, you will be immediately alerted if a vehicle is in use during non-specified times. Once you are alerted you will be able to locate that vehicle within minutes, putting a stop to a theft in progress.

You will be able to monitor the speeds of the vehicles which will put your drivers at less risk to be involved in an accident.
